Geothermeon is a geothermal project developer based in Germany (Landau). Our business objective is the global prospection, exploration and development of first class geothermal energy resources.
- What are Geothermeon’s current activities?Our current activities focus on exploring and developing high potential areas in
Germany and Turkey. Our project portfolio includes conventional hydrothermal resources as well as EGS/HFR locations. While Germany provides the most attractive feed-in tariffs in the world, Turkey has the most promising resources of Europe. Geothermeon has acquired several hundred km² of exploration licenses in these two countries. At the same time we are prospecting for further project opportunities globally. - What are Geothermeon’s references?The management and technical team of Geothermeon AG, including staff of its affiliated companies Q-con GmbH and Sonsuzluk Ltd, have long-time operational experience from both geothermal and oil & gas projects in Germany, Australia, France, USA, Turkey, Switzerland and Japan.
- What is Geothermeon’s special expertise?Geothermeon is a technology leader in developing Hot-Fractured-Rock (HFR), or Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), respectively. Our experts worked in all major EGS/HFR projects during the last 30 years (9 projects in 6 countries) covering the entire state of knowledge in HFR/EGS up to date.
- What distinguishes Geothermeon from other geothermal developers?Geothermeon strikes a new path by maximizing the benefits from reservoir enhancement technologies. It is our approach to apply these techniques whenever suitable, even in so-called conventional geothermal reservoirs. This integration of conventional and HFR/EGS technology will produce a new generation of geothermal systems with improved economics and reduced exposure to geological risks.
- What is the meaning of our company name?The term “eon” derives from the Greek and means “age” or “era”. “Eon” also stands for the longest time period on the geological time scale. Our company name Geothermeon reflects our belief that the age of geothermal energy has come.
- What is the meaning of our logo?The logo consists of two fire salamanders embracing the globe. The salamander represents the element “Fire” in the ancient four element system: Earth – Water – Fire – Air. The Salamander stands for all heat processes of the Earth.
